Support services group Capita has started a search in Bristol for a 60,000 sq ft (5,574 sq m) city centre requirement.
The group has appointed King Sturge to find a building to house Capita’s recently acquired £500m contract to run the BBC’s TV licensing administration.
Favourite to secure the deal is London & Paris’s 65,383sq ft (6,074 sq m) Prudential building in Wine Street.
Alder King had been instructed to find a buyer for it, but confirmed that it had been taken off the market and that a letting was being sought.
A second candidate is Schreiber Holdings’ South Plaza scheme, currently undergoing a £4.5m refurbishment.
Formerly known as Sun Life Court, it adjoins North Plaza in Marlborough Street and consists of two buildings comprising a total of 160,564 sq ft (14,942 sq m).
GVA Grimley is marketing South Plaza’s office space.
The customer service staff involved in the TV licensing contract will transfer from Consignia to Capita in July 2002.
They are currently based in around 112,000 sq ft (10,404 sq m) of space in Barton House and York House, in Broadmead, Bristol.
