Capital & Centric buys site for 250-home scheme

Capital & Centric has bought Weir Mill in Stockport, which will be redeveloped into 250 apartments.

The £60m project will develop two Grade II listed mills to also include commercial, retail and food and beverage space, as well as surrounding green space. The deal is understood by EG to be in the region of £4m.

The scheme sits within Stockport’s town centre west regeneration zone, which will see a new £120m transport interchange built opposite the mill.

Tim Heatley, co-founder of Capital & Centric, said: “Times are tough, but regeneration projects will be an important part of Greater Manchester’s recovery. We’re hugely excited to be coming to Stockport and this deal shows how much confidence we have in the town.”

The deal follows on from the developer revealing plans for a 275-bedroom hotel in Manchester.
