CapitaLand’s Ascott to reconfigure apartments into work suites

CapitaLand’s serviced apartment and hotel business, the Ascott, has unveiled plans to convert selected units across its global network into work suites.

The suites will be able to host a range of businesses such as cloud kitchens, fitness firms for streaming classes or act as parcel collection hubs, as well as providing alternative work and study locations.

Apartments at the Ascott Raffles City Chengdu, China, have already been transformed into fitness studios, while the Somerset Alabang Manila in the Philippines is turning under-used space into a parcel collection hub.

In the UK these work suites will available across five of its Citadines-branded aparthotels in London, located at Barbican, EC1, Trafalgar Square, WC2, Holborn, WC1, South Kensington, SW7, and Islington, N1.

Kevin Goh, CapitaLand’s chief executive for lodging and Ascott’s chief executive, said: “To ensure that Ascott remains a dominant lodging player in the new normal, we must be agile, continually adapt and develop new business strategies to future-ready our company.

“We are evolving our lodging products and services to cater to new customer segments, uncover alternative revenue streams as well as deliver greater value for our guests and business partners.”
