Captima buys Dohertybaines’ BTR business

Structured finance group Captima has acquired Dohertybaines’ build-to-rent and residential advisory agency Grafton Residential and relaunched it as Cap Real Estate.

The London-based company will be led by Robert Nelson, former executive director and head of Dohertybaines’ alternative capital markets team, and Niall Crowley, former director of Grafton Residential.

The new business will provide a range of BTR and alternative residential services with a pipeline of opportunities in the UK and Republic of Ireland, helping to identify sites, support acquisitions, planning and building design optimisation, funding and exit planning.

Mark Watson, director at Captima, said: “This acquisition is undoubtedly fantastic timing and adds significant impetus to our expansion and long-term strategy.”

Nelson said: “There is a significant amount of capital-chasing opportunities and with our track record we are well placed to assist developers and investors alike.”

Grafton Residential launched in 2015, specialising in private brokerage and advice across London and global prime markets with services around residential sales, acquisitions, investment, development and asset management.
