Car giant Ford gears up to leave Soho HQ

Ford is trying to dispose of its global design HQ in London’s Soho after occuping it for just 18 months.

The car giant has instructed Cushman & Wakefield Healey & Baker to sublet at least three floors of Broadwick House, Broadwick Street, W1.

Ford signed a prelet for the entire 27,000 sq ft (2,508 sqm) at the Richard Rogers-designed building in May 2000, paying a record £50 per sq ft (£538 per sq m) for the area.

The building was taken for its Ingeni design centre in the midst of the dotcom boom.

However, this week it decided to shut down the centre to help cut costs.

CWHB will quote £45 per sq ft (£484 per sq m) for the top floor and £42.50 (£457.50) for the rest of the building.

See Saturday’s Estates Gazette for the full story.
