Cardiff garden city planned

Planning-generic-THUMB.jpegDeveloper Redrow and Plymouth Estates have submitted plans for a £2bn garden city project in Cardiff.

The project, entitled Plasdwr – “waterhall” in English – comprises 7,000 homes to be built over 20 years.

A planning application has been submitted for a 920-home first phase on two sites in the north-west of the city.

The pair of developers are to meet the Welsh government’s planning team to discuss the project in the context of Cardiff’s local development plan early next year.

Persimmon also has plans for a 1,500 home development in the area, on land to the north of the M4’s junction 33.

If the project and the LDP are approved, work could start in 2016.
