Cardiff’s Old Brewery Quarter plans put on show

Countryside Properties and Mansford have unveiled proposals (pictured) for their £18.5m Old Brewery Quarter joint venture in Cardiff.

The Covent Garden-style scheme on the site of the former SA Brain brewery will include 53,709 sq ft (4,990 sq m) of retail and restaurant outlets grouped around a central piazza, together with 42 loft apartments and penthouses. It is due for completion next January.

Mark Chatham, sales and marketing director of Countrysides commercial arm, said more than half of the commercial space had been taken by SA Brain & Co, for a memorabilia bar, La Tasca for a Spanish tapas bar, and Belgium Monk.

Chatham also confirmed: “We have the two units let to Whitbread and we are waiting to see what happens with their restaurant business.”

Talks are ongoing with a number of “lifestyle retailers,” Chatham added.
