Care home crisis is government’s fault, says tycoon

The tycoon behind Britain’s biggest care home operator has launched a fierce attack on the government.

Chai Patel, who built HC-One out of the collapse of Southern Cross, said that the government had “clearly miscalculated” the risk of coronavirus to care homes, was “underprepared” and its actions had “exacerbated the crisis”.

The group operates 348 homes with a 4.8% market share.
