Care home given go-ahead at £400m Durham development

Durham City Council has approved plans for the delivery of a 73-bedroom care facility as part of Citrus Durham’s £400m mixed-use Integra 61 development.

Marton Care has been signed as a partner to build and operate the care home, which is expected to complete next year.

The care home will sit adjacent to the 260 homes currently being delivered at 205-acre site. The wider project also includes the construction of a hotel, nursery, restaurant, vehicle dealerships and retail spaces.

David Cullingford, project lead for Integra 61 and Citrus Durham, said: “We have always aimed to create a thriving and sustainable community and through the provision of this facility, in addition to the new homes, businesses, roadside opportunities and other uses being delivered, we are well on our way to achieving this.”
