Carillion has signed a deal with the Homes and Communities Agency to deliver the regeneration of Tower Works on Leeds’ South Bank.
The developer will submit a planning application to transform three listed Italianate towers into 90,000 sq ft of offices, 24,000 sq ft of shops, restaurants and bars, and a mix of flats and town houses.
The combined development value of the 2.9-acre site in Holbeck Urban Village is estimated to be £80m.
If approved, construction work will begin in spring 2016.
Carillion was chosen by Leeds city council in July as the preferred bidder to develop the listed Engine House complex at the centre of the Tower Works site, which is expected to house an art-house cinema and boutique brewery.
The deals forms part of a £500m regeneration scheme on Leeds’ South Bank.
