Carlyle nets Allianz in Brum

Carlyle Group has netted Allianz Insurance as the latest tenant at its 300,000 sq ft Colmore Plaza office block in Birmingham.


International insurance provider Allianz has signed a 15-year lease for 15,000 sq ft of office space on the 10th floor of the building. Rents were undisclosed, however, prime rents in the city hover around £25-£27.50 per sq ft.


Allianz will relocate and consolidate its commercial and engineering division from Trinity Park business park, just outside Birmingham on the M42, and a small office on Great Charles Street.


Mark Harris, managing director at Carlyle, said: “There has been a noticeable increase in activity in both the investor and occupier markets in the UK’s regional business centres recently, particularly in Birmingham, where we are seeing a great deal of interest in the remaining space at Colmore Plaza.”


Allianz joins existing occupiers including Marsh, Amey, Investec Wealth & Investment, Aecom, Orega, Aedas, Grant Thornton and Robert Half International.
