Carlyle Group will this week unveil plans for a £1bn nine-building redevelopment to continue the regeneration of London’s South Bank.
The US private equity firm will create 1.4m sq ft, mostly comprising 492 riverside flats between Tate Modern and Blackfriars Bridge. It will also open up the Blackfriars railway viaducts and create new public space. The residential tower, designed by PLP Architecture, will be a neighbour to One Blackfriars, the skyscraper Berkeley Homes is building. Public consultation will begin shortly. Carlyle still has to negotiate its Section 106 obligations with Southwark council.
