Carpetright to return to N17

Plans to redevelop the Carpetright store in Tottenham which was destroyed in riots last summer, have been submitted to Haringey council.

Threadneedle Pensions, owner of 638 High Road, Tottenham, N17, has lodged plans to rebuild the property in its original 1930s art deco style.

The property was knocked down in August last year after it was set on fire by rioters.

Threadneedle, advised by Montagu Evans, wants to create a Carpertright store on the ground floor and 26 flats on floors one to three.

Carpetright chief executive Lord Harris last year vowed to reopen the shop in Tottenham. The new building, if approved, forms part of Haringey council’s 12 targets for the year to attract investors to the area.
