Carpetright has bought seven stores from privately owned Carpetworld for £7.2m.
The out-of-town stores, averaging 930 sq m (10,000 sq ft), will be converted to Carpetright and should re-open next month.
The acquisition includes a long leasehold site at Preston in Lancashire for £3.4m, five short leaseholds in the North and Midlands for £900,000 and a freehold unit at Warrington in Cheshire for £2.9m.
Each site is a new location for Carpetright, which is aiming to build its presence in the North.
