Birmingham is to ban cars from passing through its city centre in a bid to cut air pollution and congestion.
A newly published report says that vehicles will still be permitted to travel into the city, but will not be allowed to travel through it.
Instead an upgraded ring road bust be used. Other measures include a shift from single occupancy cars and a 20mph limit in the city centre.
It is thought the ban would be enforced using numberplate recognition.
