Carter Jonas has appointed GL Hearn’s Paul Astbury as partner and head of compulsory purchase.
Astbury, who has more than 25 years’ experience in the CPO sector, has worked on some of the UK’s largest regeneration projects, including Hammerson and Barnet Council’s Brent Cross Cricklewood and the new passenger terminus at St Pancras International station.
Working in Carter Jonas’ London-based infrastructure team, Astbury will collaborate with planning and development teams across the country.
As head of compulsory purchase at GL Hearn, he advised developers on the securing of compulsory purchase powers.
Previously, Astbury spent 16 years at Transport for London, leading its Crossrail property team. As part of this role, he helped formulate the property and compensation policy relating to the Crossrail Bill, working closely with the Department for Transport.
