Carter outline Dunmow park

Carter Commercial Developments, a subsidiary of Speyhawk, have been given outline planning permission for a 25-acre business park at Great Dunmow, Essex. The scheme is for 485,000 sq ft of B1 space on a site 7 miles from the M11 and Stansted Airport, and alongside the proposed A130 link between the east coast ports and the M11/A1.

Originally called Smith’s Farm, the land was bought in September 1988 by Carter with considerable hope value, according to managing director Michael Clark. “Dunmow is an untried, untested market,” he says. Uttlesford council granted permission on the site as a defence against other applications for developments close to the airport.

The four-year construction programme is set to start in October, with the first phase occupied by November 1990.

Carter will carry out the scheme themselves or with a joint-venture partner. Agents for the project are Matthews & Goodman.
