Casino group shareholders encourage hostile bid

Some of Capital Corporation’s largest shareholders are trying toencourage a hostile bid for the casino group.

It follows the fizzling out of approaches believed to be from AidanBarclay, who owns the Ritz and Peter McNally its former joint managingdirector.

Investors have touted Stakis as a possible buyer for some or all ofthe three clubs. They comprise Crockfords, the Colony Club and theCromwell Mint. Another possible buyer is Ogden Corporation of the US.Ladbroke is believed to have been approached by some investors. But thecompany issued a statement yesterday insisting all discussions hadceased.
