Rugby League club Castleford has received the go-ahead from its local council to build a new stadium.
Wakefield metropolitan borough council have given approval in principle to a new multisports complex at Whitwood, near the M62.
Initial plans include two grandstands and two terraced ends, but the stadium will eventually be an all-seater with 15,000 capacity.
