Catalyst Housing and Aldwyck Housing Group have entered formal merger talks, which could create a housing provider with more than 30,000 homes across London and the Home Counties.
It is expected that Aldwyck will join Catalyst as a subsidiary early in the new financial year, followed by a Transfer of Engagements as soon as practicable.
Ian McDermott, who is currently chief executive of Aldwyck Group, was announced as the new chief executive of Catalyst in July and takes up his role in January 2019.
Richard Brown, chair of Catalyst Housing, said: “Beyond the geographical synergies, a unified Catalyst and Aldwyck would be in a strong position to build on existing shared core strengths in development, regeneration and placemaking, and by pooling our experiences and resources make faster progress in our journey to provide really excellent service to our residents.”
Pat Billingham, chair of Aldwyck Group, added: “We believe that the proposed merger with Catalyst will enable us to accelerate the delivery of more much-needed new homes in the communities we serve.
“Our organisations share common aims, values and cultures and by joining forces we can create an enhanced offer for our customers as well as increased career development opportunities for colleagues.”
