CBI reports improvement in property market

The Confederation of British Industry has reported an improvement in the commercial property market in the first half of 1999 despite delayed effects of economic slowdown.

The survey found 27% of respondents had increased property holdings, compared with 16% who had decreased their holdings. But demand is expected to remain constant over the next six months.

The most buoyant sector was retailing. Northern Ireland and East Anglia are expected to perform best over the next six months.
