The Confederation of British Industry has warned that the country could lose £100bn in economic output and 950,000 jobs by 2020 if there is a vote to leave the European Union in June’s referendum.
A vote to leave would cause a serious shock to the economy, a study by PricewaterhouseCoopers, commissioned by the CBI, said.
The confederation’s director-general, Carolyn Fairbairn, is set to say in a speech later that an exit would be a terrible blow to living standards, jobs and growth.
