CBRE appoints BNP PRE pair

CBRE-THUMBCBRE has hired BNP Paribas Real Estate’s Richard Garside and James Hiatt as directors on its London investment team.

Garside, head of City Investment at BNP Paribas Real Estate, will join as an executive director and Hiatt will join as senior director on the City investment team.

Previous to his time at BNP PRE, Garside was head of City investment at GVA Property Consultancy.

The appointments come a few months after Jamie Pope, former managing director of CBRE’s London investment business, and John Starkie, former senior director at CBRE, left to join US broker HFF.

Adam Hetherington, managing director of London at CBRE, said: “Richard and James have the expertise, experience and client relationships that complement our team.”

A BNP Paribas Real Estate spokesman said:

“Our investment team remains one of the most unique, well-connected and diverse in the industry, supported by BNP Paribas Bank, which offers our clients access to financial services, intelligence and global buyers. We already have £1bn of transactions under our belt so far this year which is testimony to this connectivity and success.

“As the real estate adviser for a changing world, we have recently stepped up our investment in modernising and digitalising our business to deliver more for our clients – the first priority of our business. As always, when a business or market changes, we see leavers. We wish Richard and James the best of luck in their new roles.”
