CBRE creates chief diversity officer role

CBRE has created a chief diversity officer role that will report directly to company president and chief executive Bob Sulentic.

Tim Dismond, currently a divisional president in CBRE’s Global Workspace Solutions business, will take up the role and will join the 11 other global executives from across the business on its executive committee.

Sulentic said: “Tim is a very impactful operating executive who has a deep understanding of our business. He will add energy, focus and sharp thinking to our diversity and inclusion efforts.

“The creation of the chief diversity officer role is a major step in accelerating our progress, particularly in senior leadership and brokerage positions. While we have made notable gains in boosting diversity in our company, we know there is more that we must do, particularly with regard to African Americans and other ethnically diverse leaders.”

CBRE has set itself a number of clear targets around increasing diversity and inclusion among the business, including making sure that a visibly diverse candidate is included at the in-person interview stage for all positions at the director level and above, panels of interviewers for all positions at the director level and above include a visibly diverse interviewer and that a diversity and inclusion-focused objective is included in all performance appraisals for employees at director level and above.
