CBRE’s director of planning has quit to join a specialist planning and design consultancy.

Matt Nicholson will run Terence O’Rourke’s London office and will become special projects director, working on a strategic review for an international developer on large-scale residential schemes.

He will also advise on a significant town centre regeneration project.

O’Rourke oversaw the creation of Warner Bros Leavesden studios, the Harry Potter studio tour, the McLaren Technology Group’s campus at Woking, the luxury treetop retreat at Chewton Glen Hotel, Mercedes-Benz World in Brooklands, Surrey, and the expansion of Luton Airport.

Nicholson has 16 years of experience in planning, having worked at Sainsbury’s and GL Hearn, King Sturge and Cushman & Wakefield.

Terence O’Rourke managing director Tim Hancock said: “Matt is a highly experienced planner who has worked at director level with two major London-based property consultancies and a range of private and public sector organisations.

“He brings a wealth of commercial expertise, which will be of immense value to our diverse range of developer and investor clients.”

Nicholson said: “I am thrilled to have the opportunity to join one of the leading players in the planning sector and to use my in-depth knowledge of planning and commercial experience to support and benefit the company’s clients.”
