CBRE expands regional lending team to target dearth of development funding

CBRE has expanded its regional lending team to target a scarcity of speculative development finance outside London.

The firm has appointed Kenny Orpin as an associate director on its investment advisory team to advise clients across the regions on lending strategies.

Orpin, who was previously on Santander’s real estate lending team, will be based in CBRE’s Manchester office and will advise private institutions and public bodies on their investment strategies.

The CBRE real estate lending team, which manages £800m of debt mandates, said there was a scarcity of speculative development finance in the regions.

Andrew Antoniades, senior director, investment advisory at CBRE, said: “Kenny is a key hire in our drive to expand our lending business and extend our reach to clients in the UK regions.

“We see many attractive investment opportunities as well as chances to make loans to fund regeneration across the UK regions, and in particular in the North West.”
