CBRE’s pay gap is 17.4%, the company has revealed in its gender pay report.
The bonus pay gap is significantly wider with men paid 69.2% more than women. At CBRE’s Global Workplace Solutions business, however, the bonus pay gap was -2.74%, which means women were paid more bonuses, on average, than men.
In its main surveying subsidiary, CBRE’s pay gap was 33.7% and the bonus pay gap was 79%.
The numbers were released days after JLL UK published its report showing a pay gap of 36.7% across the whole business and a bonus pay gap of 78.9%.
CBRE said the main reason for the pay gap was the fact that there are more men in senior positions than women, which it added was characteristic of the wider property sector.
The number of men outweigh women in every pay quartile. Some 76.1% of the top quartile of earners are men, as are 54.9% of the lower quartile.
It added that gender balance and equality is a priority and that graduate intake has now reached a 50:50 gender split “in many parts of our business”.
Amanda Clack, head of strategic consulting at CBRE, said: “CBRE has been spearheading action to improve female retention and progression in the property sector for many years. The fact that we are now leading the way in achieving the National Equality Standard reinforces our passion for improving diversity at all levels.”
