VIDEO: Estates Gazette has been given a tour of CBRE’s new regional headquarters at Hermes Real Estate’s 55 Temple Row and spoken with one of the key people behind the deal – the largest agent relocation in Birmingham since 2008.
With a lease break looming at its former Cornwall Court offices, CBRE shortlisted four schemes – 2 Colmore Square, 158 Edmund Street, Colmore Plaza and Two Snowhill. However, senior director Ashley Hancox negotiated an off-market deal with Hermes to transform the former Bank of England/Bank of Scotland premises into its 13,500 sq ft new home.
After detailed talks, a 15-year lease at a rent of £22 per sq ft was agreed and announced in May, and CBRE relocated its 100-strong workforce over the summer, finally settling in, in September.
The new “mini Henrietta House” is now immediately recognisable with the green CBRE branding, and the space has allowed the firm to adopt new agile working practices. Clients can also drop-in and use the wi-fi and coffee bar in the reception.
