Commercial Estates Group has asked Leeds city council for help to fund its 23-acre Kirkstall Forge scheme in the city.
The London-based firm is developing the site on behalf of Gibraltar-based GMV Twelve.
The £350m scheme comprises 300,000 sq ft of offices and more than 1,000 homes. A new train station, part-funded by government, also forms part of the plans.
A report to be considered by Leeds city council’s executive next week, says CEG needs help because of “the timescales associated with the funding of this development, the urgent need to move it forward and the absence of other funding options”.
It also says there are “sound economic reasons for the council to respond positively to the request to provide support to the scheme”.
No funding figures are mentioned in the report.
