VIDEO: Actors Dan Stevens, David Suchet and John Sessions were among a star-studded cast for this year’s Story of Christmas Appeal at St George’s Church Hanover Square last night.
They were joined by celebrities Rosalind Ayers, Ian Hislop, Martin Jarvis, David Nicholls and Ellie Nunn, all of whom gave readings.
The Choir of St George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle, and the Band & Fanfare Trumpeters of the Welsh Guards performed Christmas carols, and were joined by tenor Alexander Sprague for “O Holy Night”.
About 600 of the property and construction industry’s biggest names attended the service and reception at the Dorchester Hotel afterwards.
The night is held to raise donations for projects to support homeless and disadvantaged people in London.
This year, £423,000 was raised for the Story of Christmas Appeal. Last night’s charity auction at the Dorchester reception was conducted by auctioneer Duncan Moir.
Lots included a visit to see the filming of the fourth series of Sherlock, and a 12-night cruise to see the Northern Lights.
