Chancerygate awaits Hornsey Road Baths decision

Chancerygate’s planning application to regenerate the Hornsey Road Baths site in Holloway, N7, is expected to go before Islington council next month.

The proposal, selected by Islington council following an extensive tendering process, will see a mixed-use scheme developed on the 0.81ha (two-acre) site, including a new arts and community centre.

The project will incorporate the existing Grade II-listed building and the famous “diving lady” sign (pictured) into the development, which will comprise 7,430 sq m (80,000 sq ft) of offices and 44 residential flats. New buildings will include a theatre, community centre and health and fitness centre.

The development will also include a “multi-sensory complex” that uses coloured lights, projections and water features to help treat autism and forms of depression.

The Tavistock Repertory Company, based in Cannonbury, N1, has already fixed its sights on the theatre and is looking for the £2m needed to buy it.

Donaldsons is advising Islington council on the project.
