Chinese car manufacturer Changan Automotive has acquired an 80,000 sq ft phase of Birmingham Business Park in Solihull, to house the global headquarters for its research & development and Powertrain divisions.
The major inward investment deal saw Changan pay vendor/administrator Moorfield Corporate Recovery an undisclosed sum for the Parkside phase of offices.
Changan also considered Birmingham city centre and Coventry for its requirement.
Changan, whose joint ventures include ChanganFord and ChanganSuzuki, has major expansion plans for the UK. The move sees consolidation of the firm’s existing offices in Nottingham and Warwickshire moving to the park.
Changan now owns five buildings at Parkside and has planning consent to demolish and rebuild the 3600 Parkside building to create a new research and development centre.
KWB advised Moorfield Corporate Recovery.
