Changes to footballers’ St. Michael’s development revealed

Former footballers Gary Neville and Ryan Giggs have unveiled changes to their St. Michael’s development in Manchester, after withdrawing their original plans following criticism by Historic England.

Among the changes, two bronze-clad towers will no longer feature; the footballers will now buy the Sir Ralph Abercrombie pub, which will form the centre of the development; and the façade of the Bootle Street police station will also be preserved.

Neville said the new plans were a balance between ambition and preservation, conservation and retention.
