Channel 4 has narrowed its shortlist for its new national headquarters to three possible locations.
Birmingham, Greater Manchester and Leeds are in the running for Channel 4’s new HQ and for its two new creative hubs.
Bristol, Cardiff and Glasgow are being considered for its creative hubs, but not for its HQ.
Channel 4 said its expansion is part of its plan to increase spend on its national and regional content by £250m over the next five years.
It will enter into advanced negotiations with the six cities, with a final announcement expected in the autumn.
The shortlist was narrowed down from 13 locations, announced in May, after 30 submissions were received from local governments.
Jonathan Allan, chief commercial officer of Channel 4, said: “We have again had to take some very difficult decisions on which cities to take forward to the next stage, but we believe the six cities we have selected are best able to deliver against our vision and requirements for the new national HQ and creative hubs.”
