Bristol TRYathlon raises funds for therapy centre

The sun shone at this year’s Colliers International Bristol TRYathlon, making it its most successful year to date. Some 250 professionals from 50 companies took part by swimming 400m, cycling 16km and running 5km. They raised £5,700 for the West of England MS Therapy Centre, which provides treatment and therapy for people with multiple sclerosis and other neurological conditions.

Arran Challenge pushes participants to the limit

Teams of property professionals battled the elements to take part in this year’s Rob Worboys Arran ChallengeThe event, organised by Cushman & Wakefield, was founded as a tribute to colleague Rob Worboys, who passed away last year aged 27 from a heart condition. More than 80 participants took on the 57-mile cycle ride around the Isle of Arran and attempted to climb the 2,866ft Goat Fell in tough weather conditions. David Davidson, managing director of C&W’s Scottish offices, said: “This is our second Arran Challenge for Rob and the two events have raised more than £36,000 for CRY, which will be used to screen young people and raise awareness of cardiac conditions such as sudden adult death syndrome.”

Miller Homes helps housing charity

Miller Homes staff have raised more than £28,000 for global housing charity Habitat for Humanity. The housebuilder took part in the charity’s Hope Challenge 2017, which included constructing a shelter, completing a 20km trek and problem-solving activities. Pitted against other firms from the construction industry, Miller Homes’ three teams – Star Gazers, Peaky Builders and Scotch on the Rocks – took the top three fundraising positions, while the Star Gazers team was declared the overall winner.

Cars help deliver a ray of sunshine

The St John’s Wood Supercar Pageant has raised more than £30,000 for Rays of Sunshine, a charity that brightens the lives of seriously ill children aged three to 18 by granting their wishes. Sponsored by Knight Frank, the event displayed an array of classic cars, which included an ultra-rare 1995 Porsche 993 GT2.  Money was raised through private donations, prize raffles and a fair.
