Stonley on Himalayan trek for Atlas Foundation
Nick Stonley, managing director of Kent-based housebuilder Millwood Designer Homes, is embarking on a four-day trek to North Bengal, India, and the Himalayas, beginning on 29 March. Accompanied by 2003 Rugby World Cup winner Jason Leonard and other rugby legends, the team will be raising money for the Atlas Foundation.
The Atlas Foundation, which was founded by Leonard, aims to bring positive change to children around the world through the power of the game. It provides children from the poorest countries with food, education and training, as well as rugby lessons from coaches and teachers.
Stonley and the Atlas Foundation will visit children in four jungle villages in North Bengal, delivering rugby kit, playing and coaching, as well as opening a brand-new community centre, before going on to trek up into the Himalayas.
Since the charity was launched four years ago, the programme has reached more than 37,000 children in 20 projects across 15 countries. Every £10,000 raised on this trek, guarantees the programme for two years in one location.
