Charity and social: Evans’ epic adventure hits new height

Julian Evans, head of healthcare at Knight Frank, is scaling Mount Everest as part of his quest to complete the True Adventurers Grand Slam and raise more than £1m for charity.

The challenge requires participants to reach the North and South Poles and climb the Seven Summits – a feat only completed by 15 other adventurers around the world.

Evans is 80% through the challenge and after Mount Everest he has Aconcagua in Argentina and Carstensz Pyramid in Indonesia left to conquer.

For his current expedition, Evans is raising money for the Matt Hampson Foundation.

The charity provides support and treatment for people suffering from a serious injury or disability.

Midlands developer to help vulnerable adults

Richard Mees from Midlands property firm Rainier Developments is to play a key role in helping distribute £3.5m to help vulnerable adults across the region.

The money was donated anonymously to the Heart of England Community Foundation, a charity which distributes funds across the West Midlands.

Mees is part of a panel that will assess the viability of projects on behalf of the foundation and fulfil the donor’s request that the money funds three projects that will create new or upgrade existing accommodation for homeless and vulnerable people.

Savills seeks out a new generation

Savills with Schools is a new initiative aimed at inspiring the next generation of property professionals.

The programme is in place across 25 of the firm’s UK offices and seeks to encourage young people to consider real estate as a career.

Savills employees have visited up to 45 state schools to promote awareness of professional routes in the industry.

They have spoken to students about Savills’ graduate scheme, apprenticeship opportunities and work experience placements.

Richard Rees, managing director of Savills UK, said: “This initiative has helped to make the property sector accessible to everyone… and we hope to see it inspire the next generation of Savills employees.”
