More than 150 property professionals took over Powerleague in Shoreditch on Friday 26 July, for an afternoon of friendly football rivalry in support of LandAid.
The fourth annual property five-a-side tournament, hosted by Blayze Group, has grown year-on-year, and alongside the football the day has become a great networking occasion.
Blayze Group was joined by dozens of companies from across the industry, including Paragon, Gardiner & Theobald, LOM Architecture & Design and Quartz to compete for the footballing accolade.
The highly anticipated competition wasn’t dampened by the return of the typical British summer, with the rain only spurring on the atmosphere and team spirit. Reigning champions Gardiner & Theobald retained the trophy title for the third year running, and DS Emotion were the victorious winners of the plate competition.

Celebratory dignities ensued, with a BBQ, awards ceremony and drinks. The event raised nearly £2,000, and the proceeds will go towards supporting LandAid with projects across the UK to help create safe, secure and affordable housing for young homeless people. Projects include the Cardinal Hume Centre in London, where LandAid’s grant is helping to refurbish a home for 32 young people. The residence will give vulnerable young people 24-hour support on-site, as well as providing English classes and a key support worker for each resident.
Harry Macgregor, founder of the property five-a-side and consultancy team leader, said: “In its fourth year, the 2019 property five-a-side tournament was another huge success. It was great to see such a strong variety of clients, some new and some that have been attending since its inception, all coming together to raise money for such a worthwhile cause as LandAid.
“Plans are already underway to ensure the 2020 tournament is the biggest to date. Thank you to all of the clients who make the event possible.
“A special mention goes to Gardiner & Theobald for winning the tournament for the third year in a row – however, it would be great to see someone new victorious next year!”
The event was supported by DS. Emotion and media partner EG.
Dransfield keep on cycling
A team of cyclists from Dransfield Properties have completed the toughest leg so far of their fundraising cycling challenge of Europe, with a 300-mile journey through Norway.
The Oslo to Stavanger ride is the 12th leg of an epic journey which began in 2007, with the challenge’s first cycle from London to Paris.
Dransfield Properties’ charity cycle will end with the ultimate ride in 2021, in London.
The tour has spanned 4,800 miles across 15 countries so far, and in the last 12 years has raised almost £500,000 for charity.
This year’s challenge raised more than £50,000 for Action Against Cancer, St Luke’s Hospice and The Dransfield Foundation.
2019’s challenge was cycled in memory of Deborah Holmes, the wife of Dransfield Properties managing director Mark Dransfield, who passed away after a battle with cancer earlier in the year.
