Charity and social: More property players rise to the Covid challenge

Ali Ansari

Real estate investor Ali Ansari has transformed Iran Mall in northern Tehran – one of the world’s largest shopping malls – into a 3,000-bed hospital to help combat the spread of Covid-19 in Iran. More than 400 medical professionals are working at the 45,000 sq m hospital. Ansari drew inspiration for the hospital from China, where large medical units to accommodate thousands of patients were constructed quickly as the virus spread. Ansari has created a blueprint which can be used at other sites of a similar scale across the globe.

Urban Village Group

Developer Urban Village Group is offering doctors, nurses and other emergency services workers rent-free accommodation as a thank you for their efforts in fighting the Covid-19 pandemic. The Birmingham-based company is offering two months rent-free in its developments across the country, including Knight’s House in Sutton Coldfield, and Equinox in Leicester.

Prideview Group

Commerical investment firm Prideview Group has compiled an online guide for landlords about the possible implications of the Covid-19 pandemic for their existing and future investments. Galliard Homes

Galliard Homes has donated one of its warehouse complexes in Essex for use as an emergency local community facility to store essential supplies. The 2.5-acre site will be repurposed and used by Essex County Council to store food and medical supplies brought in as part of the government’s response to fighting the coronavirus pandemic and supporting vulnerable people.
