Jo Blackshaw, investor relations director at Tritax, is part of a team of four women taking part in the 2021 Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge.
The crew will attempt to row 3,000 miles from La Gomera in the Canary Islands to English Harbour in Antigua in their boat, named The Mothership.
Sponsored by Tritax Big Box REIT, the team will be raising funds for three charities: Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospice; Felix Fund, an organisation that helps bomb disposal personnel and their families, and the Women in Sport charity.
The crew will depart the Canaries on 12 December. They are aiming to reach Antigua within 45 days, attempting to break the record held by the first all-woman crew, who completed the challenge in 67 days.

Turning trash into treasure
Waste management and recycling company Powerday and housebuilder Hill Group have collectively raised more than £16,000 for BBC Children in Need. The businesses designed a Pudsey skip featuring the Children in Need colours and mascot, and made generous pledges. All the proceeds raised will go to helping charities support the lives of children and young people across the UK.
