SEGRO centenary provides charity boost
SEGRO has donated a total of £160,000 to LandAid as part of its centenary celebrations. The funds will support the charity’s projects to help people affected by Covid-19 and to tackle youth homelessness.
The industrial REIT has contributed £40,000 to the LandAid Covid-19 Emergency Fund, which is supporting vulnerable young people during the pandemic. Provisions and support are being delivered through projects across the UK, including Evolve Housing & Support, Active Horizons, St Christopher’s Fellowship and Look Ahead Care & Support.
In addition to this, £120,000 will go towards extending and refurbishing a homeless shelter in Ealing, W5, as part of LandAid’s Sponsor a Home campaign. Run by charity Look Ahead, the shelter supports young homeless people across London in getting back into education and employment.
SEGRO has donated more than £600,000 to LandAid over the past 10 years.
Argent backs Brent Cross community groups
Argent Related and Barnet Council have selected 11 local community projects to receive grants as part of the £30,000 Brent Cross South Community Fund, delivered by independent organisation Semble.
Launched in May for its second year, the fund offered grants of up to £3,000 for projects focused on supporting local initiatives which are working to respond directly to the impact of Covid-19 in the communities neighbouring the Brent Cross South regeneration area.
The entries were judged on how they reflected the ambition for the new town centre to be an inclusive, people-first place which strives to be healthy and sustainable.
The successful projects were: Childs Hill Foodbank; West Hendon Summer Youth Project FUSE; Camp Simcha; St Agnes Counselling Service; Kef Kids Covid Support; Childs Hill Library Open Day and Volunteer Celebration; People and Nature Thrive Together; Apache Kids Club (pictured); BACA Older Person’s Outreach; Whitefield Sensory Garden; and Brent Terrace Residents’ Association Community Garden Allotment Project.
LandAid gets executive search support
Executive search firm Granger Reis is to provide pro bono support to LandAid. The international firm will assist the property industry charity with executive search consultancy services for its board and committees.
Managed by real estate partner Jamie Griffiths-Mead, Granger Reis will seek candidates who have experience in audit and risk management and are aligned with LandAid’s values and vision to end youth homelessness. Granger Reis will also become a foundation partner for LandAid and donate a minimum of £10,000 a year.
Linley & Simpson’s hospice donations hit £100,000
Yorkshire estate agent Linley & Simpson has donated £25,000 to Martin House Hospice. The latest donation takes the firm’s charitable contribution to the charity in the past five years to £100,000.
