London’s west end agents and landlords raised than £12,000 at the Desert RICS quiz night last month.
The event was organised as part of a £100,000 fundraising effort by six directors who are raising money for Macmillan Cancer Support by taking part in the Marathon des Sables – a 250km ultramarathon across the Sahara Desert.
Over 200 property personnel’s gathered at a pop-up venue in TH Real Estate’s flagship building, One New Oxford Street to tackle the quiz questions set by quiz master Matt Allen from Straction.
Fighting off tough competition from 30 other teams Colliers International were victorious in the quiz.
The evening’s auction was hosted by West End Office Agents Society’s Mark Radford.
Team Desert RICS members includes: Hunter Booth, Savills; Ralph Dorey, CBRE; Toby Chapman, JLL; Harry Badham and James Goldsmith, AXA Real Estate; and Harry Foster, Landsec.

Kick-starting a record attempt
A group of real estate professionals will attempt a Guinness World Record for the longest marathon of indoor football. Captained by Lendlease’s Tom Hatherley, the 28-man squad will attempt to play 40 hours of non-stop 6-a-side football with no breaks or half-times.
The current Guinness World Record stands at 36 hours of non-stop consecutive football.
All money raised will be donated to the MS Society UK.
The challenge kicks off on 25 May and runs over 3 days.

Pounding the pavements to aid homelessness
Tuffin Ferraby Taylor partner David Mann is running the Paris Marathon this weekend.
Mann is aiming to raise £10,000 for LandAid, the industry charity working to end youth homelessness.
“I’m pleased to say I survived my training battles with the Beast from the East, and am now eyeing the big day with (mostly) excitement and just a bit of trepidation,” he said. To support Mann’s efforts to support LandAid donate here.
Champion is fighting fit for GB

Scott Winnard, a partner at Bruton Knowles, has been chosen to represent Great Britain in the Triathlon World Championships in July.
After suffering a serious heart attack while competing at a triathlon in 2014, Winnard has battled back to full fitness to make the selection.
Bruton Knowles are sponsoring Winnard at the World Championship in Denmark and European Championships in Ibiza in October.
Redrow raises £400k
Employees at UK housebuilder, Redrow Homes, raised more than £400,000 for charitable causes in 2017. Redrow’s 15 divisions supported over 100 charities throughout the UK, which included The British Heart Foundation and Save The Children. The firm’s biggest fundraiser was undertaken by its Eastern division, raising £54,000 for The J’s Hospice in Essex.
In addition to fundraising activities and initiatives, Redrow’s employees gave up their own time and expertise to charitable projects, includeing installing a new kitchen and carpets for the Royal British Legion, Chester, and helping to decorate rooms at Martin Garden Children’s Hospice in Wetherby.
Sleepout raises money for LandAid
LandAid’s first SleepOut raised £269,000 for LandAid House.
Property professionals who braved a night out on the coldest March since records began, helped triple LandAid’s original fundraising goal of £75,000
Sponsored by Hammerson and Knight Frank, all funds raised from the night will go towards LandAid House, a brand new 146-bedroom accommodation near Old Street for young homeless Londoners.
