Cheffins has bought Cambridge advisory firm Dodson Jones, as it looks to expand its commercial property service.
Dodson Jones is an independent consultancy, originally founded by Edward Dodson and Michael Jones in 2000, who have transferred into Cheffins’ commercial division.
The pair join Philip Woolner and Simon Lewis as directors.
Dodson and Jones are joint letting agents at Granta Park and Chesterford Research Park, two of the largest science/technology parks in Cambridge.
The company has involved in some of the largest commercial property transactions in the region with recent deals including acting for Abcam in acquiring 100,000 sq ft of space at Cambridge Bio Medical Campus, and letting 95,000 sq ft to Gilead at Granta Park.
Other headline deals include acting for MRC in relocating its 285,000 sq ft laboratory for molecular biology and acquiring the £126.8m Granta Park investment on behalf of Biomed Realty.
Philip Woolner, joint managing partner and head of commercial at Cheffins, said: “The acquisition of Dodson Jones gives Cheffins unparalleled levels of contacts, market knowledge and services. The complementary skills between the two firms will enable us to provide the best advice across the whole commercial sector. By acquiring Dodson Jones we are demonstrating our commitment to the future and our continued expansion of Cheffins within the commercial market.”
