Football’s premier league champions Chelsea FC are also top of the residential property table, according to online estate agent eMoov.co.uk.

The analysis of property markets around the top 20 UK football clubs found that Chelsea’s SW6 postcode was the most expensive, with an average value of £1.1m per property, despite a 5% dip from the start of last season.

Arsenal, which will play Chelsea in next month’s Community Shield encounter marking the start of the new season, ranked second after a 6% increase in house prices around the Emirates stadium, N7.

However, the North London side still lag their West London rivals by £600,000 in the property stakes.

North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur managed a top four finish in the property league after average prices around White Hart Lane climbed by 6% to £312,410.

Newcomers Watford, Bournemouth and Norwich also all carry on the momentum of last season’s promotion, with Norwich finishing just outside the top ten. Watford, which finished fifth, and Bournemouth, which finished seventh, both enjoyed healthy increases in prices since leaving the Championship.

eMoov.co.uk chief executive Russell Quirk said: “In terms of property, West Ham and Tottenham are the ones to watch. Factors such as location and transport infrastructure should boost prices in both areas.”
