Scottish group Chess Property and its development arm Knight Real Estate have taken new offices in Aberdeen’s West End to aid ambitious expansion plans.
The group, which expects to see turnover rise 30% to £23m this year, has moved into 62 Queens Road to cope with a planned increase in staff numbers from 130 to over 150 in 2007.
Another Chess business, architecture and space planning firm Space Solutions, is taking over sole occupation of the former Chess and Knight offices, Bishop House, in Carden Place.
Chess and Knight chairman James Barrack said the group aims to double its investment in property development projects across Scotland to around £80m by 2010.
“All parts of the group are enjoying substantial growth at the moment, and this move represents a vital step for us in terms of being able to meet our long-term ambitions,” he said.
Knight last month acquired a seven-acre site at Arnhall Business Park, Westhill, for a speculative business park offering up to 150,000 sq ft of offices.
It has also bought an 11-acre site at Minto Drive, Altens, earmarked for bespoke design and build developments.
