Chesterton has been instructed to advise on the development of a key site near the National Cycling Stadium and the future Commonwealth arena at Newton’s Heath in east Manchester.
The 20.2ha (50 acre) site is being brought to the market by owner Weir Pumps. The land has potential for a range of uses including retail, leisure and industrial/warehousing. Chesterton is preparing a development brief, and hopes to lodge a planning application in the spring. The agent is already in talks with the city council.
Weir may develop part of the site itself, although it is likely that large chunks will be launched onto the market by the end of the year.
A spokesman for Chesterton said: “This is a key site forming the next part of east Manchester’s major development strategy.
