Teenagers will be taught how to calculate mortgage loans, house price rises and the value of investments in a new maths qualification.
Core maths, partly designed by universities and employers, will be sat by sixth formers who achieved at least grade C at GCSE in the subject, but are not taking the subject at A level.
The move aims to tackle the ‘maths gap’ caused by high-achieving students dropping the subject after GCSE.
