Westminster council has said that it wants a Tube station exit for London’s Chinatown, in an attempt to preserve the area’s character.
The council is working with local landowner Shaftesbury to produce a raft of proposals to improve the area, which include encouraging London Underground to re-open the Chinatown exit of Leicester Square Tube station on Newport Street, as well as comprehensive street-cleaning projects and plans to replace the famous Chinese gates and pagoda.
A final draft of the plans will be published by the end of the summer.
