Church faces sell-off over pensions

The Church of England may have to sell half its £4bn of assets in order to pay the pensions of retired clergymen.

It has suffered due to rash investments made in the 1980s and the recent Stock Market falls.

The Church owns a large property portfolio, but it is not known whether it will sell any of those assets.
