The Construction Industry Computer Exhibition and Conference, now in its eight year, will be held on January 31 to February 2 at the Barbican, London. The event is expected to be bigger than ever, and an enlarged area of the Barbican Exhibition Centre will hold an exhibition showing the latest developments in computer technology, hardware, software and services. Special features will include intelligent buildings, facilities management, building maintenance, project management, computer-aided design and information technology.
More than 80 organisations will be exhibiting at CICE, and many will be demonstrating new products or new releases of established systems. For example, Autodesk will be showing release 10 of AUTOCAD, Sovereign CS will be displaying an OS scanner for capturing existing documentation into CAD systems automatically (see photograph), and ASTA will be exhibiting the first graphical project management application to draw schedules as linked bar charts. In addition, an integrated facilities planning and management system will be displayed by ISICAD. Other organisations displaying their products will include Moss Systems, FCG, System CAD Ltd, Digital Building Systems, Gable and Redland Construction Software Ltd. The Ordnance Survey will also be exhibiting at CICE. They have recognised the need for a system that continuously updates large-scale maps, and they make this information available through the Supply of Unpublished Survey Information (SUSI). Examples of this and digital mapping products from Project 88 and the Topographical Database will be available for inspection, as will a wide range of other mapping products and services. OS staff will be on hand to discuss these and other matters related to copyright and the availability of products tailored to meet individual customer specification.
